Abstract:Three varieties of quinoa were used to determine the optimum harvesting time for silage
by measuring the height, number of true leaves, chlorophyll content, stem to leaf ratio, yield, hemicellulose, lignin, fat and crude protein content of quinoa plants at different growth time. The results showed that Chenopodium glaucum, Chenopodium mongolicum and Chenopodium striatum could be
harvested as raw materials for silage at 95 days, 95 days and 80 days respectively; According to the
comprehensive physical and chemical indexes and nutritional indexes, the agronomic characters,
yield and nutritional indexes of Chenopodium mongolicum were better than those of other species.
Therefore, Chenopodium mongolicum is suitable to be planted in Jilin province as the raw material of
silage when it grows for about 95 days.
