Abstract:Affected by COVID-19 and changes in the international situation, the world is facing severe food shortage and security challenge. Building a food-saving livestock industry is an important way to ensure the effective supply of livestock products, alleviate the contradiction between food supply and demand, enrich the dietary structure of residents and build a sustainable livestock industry in China. At present, beef cattle production is a typical grain-consuming and land-consuming livestock industry. The article reviews the necessity, technical strategy and organisational strategy of food-saving beef cattle production, aiming to provide ideas and suggestions for the development of grain-saving beef cattle industry in China.
