Abstract:Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important food crop and feed crop. Adversity will affect the dif‐
ferent growth stages of maize plants, which will have a negative impact on maize yield. From breed‐
ing selection to the application of biotechnology to enhance the adaptability of plants to stress, can in‐
creasing crop yield, protecting the stability of the ecosystem, and contributing to global food security,
this paper provides an overview of the development process of maize breeding and the advantages and
disadvantages of various breeding techniques in biological breeding, discusses the research advances
in biological breeding under biological and abiotic stress and other research progress. At the same
time, characterized by the integration of interdisciplinary technologies, breeding technology is com‐
bined with information technology, and the development direction and strategy of future breeding and
the important role of biological breeding in solving global food security are analyzed, in order to pro‐vide meaningful assistance for the innovation of breeding technology
